Mongkong Pedestrian Friendly street
Mong Kok is an area in Kowloon, Hong Kong with an extremely high population density of 130,000/km2 or 340,000 per square mile. Mong Kok is often described as the busiest district in the world.
Mong Kok preserves its traditional characteristics with an array of markets, small shops, and food stalls that have disappeared from other areas during the past several decades of economic development and urban transformation. In addition, the engagement and activity between locals and visitors in street performance and karaoke, dancing, circus and fortune telling give the district a special character. This character is also visible in a small number of preserved heritage buildings, including Nos. 600-626 Shanghai Street, Lui Seng Chun on Lai Chi Kok and the Old Kowloon Police Headquarters, built in 1925.
